Invited Session Introduction
Neural-networks is a commonly used technique in Artificial Intelligence. Statistical methods with neural networks may make great value in many fields. In this session, four speakers will introduce their methodological and applied studies focusing on the neural networks combined statistical analysis.

NESS Introduction
NESS has a long history and is embracing new challenges. As a flagship annual event of the New England Statistical Society, the symposium has been bringing together statisticians from all over New England and beyond to share research, discuss emerging issues in the field, and network with colleagues, ever since it was first started at UConn in 1987. Since its inception, NESS has been hosted by the statistics department at UConn and many other institutions in New England. In 2017, with 30 years' history of the NESS symposium, the New England Statistical Society was founded to sustain its success and build upon its legacy.
